If water is running now

The first minutes of a plumbing emergency

General steps for any home, whoever you call. They limit the damage until the pipe is repaired. Then call (424) 610-9522.

  1. Close the main valveTurn the main shutoff clockwise until it stops. For a single fixture, use the small valve under or behind it. The main is usually where the water line enters the house.
  2. Keep clear of wet electricsIf water has reached outlets, lights or the panel, stay out of it. Switch the power off only if you can reach the breaker dry. Otherwise call an electrician or 911.
  3. Stop using affected fixturesOn a backed-up drain, do not flush, shower or run the washing machine. Every gallon you add has nowhere to go but out of the lowest drain.
  4. Shut a leaking water heater downClose the cold water valve on top of it. Then switch an electric unit off at its breaker, or set a gas unit's control to pilot or off if the unit allows it.
  5. Take photographsPhotograph the damage, the failed part and the wet area for your insurance company, then move belongings out of the water's way.
  6. Smell gas? Leave firstLeave the building and call the gas company or 911 from outside. Do not use switches or flames. A gas smell is not a plumbing call.

What we do

Six services, one phone number

Emergency Plumbing

A burst pipe, a supply line that has let go, a toilet or main line that backs up into the house: none of these can wait for a convenient appointment. The first goal is always the same, to stop the water or clear the line, and then to explain what is damaged and what the repair involves.

Leak Detection and Repair

Leak work is mostly detective work: finding where water enters, where it travels and where it finally shows. We check fixtures, supply connections, outdoor valves and the lines you cannot see, narrow the source down, and then repair the pipe, fitting or valve that failed.

Drain Cleaning

Most clogs are cleared in the same way: a cable or auger goes through the blockage or hooks it and pulls it out. What differs is the tool, the access point and what comes next. We match the method to the fixture, and when the same drain stops again, we look inside the pipe to see why.

Water Heater Services

Water heater work covers four situations: a heater that has stopped heating, a tank that leaks, a heater at the end of its life, and a switch to a different type. We find out what has failed, say whether repair or replacement makes sense, and install the new unit with its shutoffs, relief valve pipe, venting and earthquake bracing.

Pipe Repair and Replacement

A leak at one joint is a repair. A line that has leaked more than once, or pinholes in several places, is a question about the whole pipe. We check the material, the age, the access and the water pressure, then recommend the smallest job that will really hold, whether that is a repaired section or a new line.

Sewer Line Services

Sewer line work begins with finding out where the line is blocked and why. We clean the line, look inside it where that is needed, and repair or replace the section that is cracked, offset or entered by roots, so the backup does not simply return.
